Centurions live far shorter lives than civilians; when New Icarus faces a new threat, Gothalia must act.

After Darwin, the Xzandians spread out worldwide to find the eleven remaining fragments. Six months after a near-death, Noel-Len Ignatius finds himself in a Centurion uniform with Dragon Core, hunting fragments. Gothalia Ignatius‑Valdis, reanimated as an Xzandian acolyte and unaware she’s being used, becomes his ruthless adversary. With the Xzandians holding the Fire Reserve’s secret weapon, Argos’s death and Arthur’s kidnapping spark a dogmatic surface government, causing segregation, chaos, and widespread destruction. Dragon Core races to secure the fragments. Gothalia’s betrayal forces Noel-Len to save humanity and exposes the Order of the Rukh’s plans and the Alastorians’ dark origins.

Gothalia Ignatius-Valdis, forced into service as a Centurion, is widely hated. During uprisings in New Icarus, Centurions, Legionnaires, and Cavaliers are sent to the Earth Reserve after its lone Princess — whom they failed to protect — vanishes among the ruins of New Eorthen. Reaching New Eorthen’s, the capital, is easy; reclaiming land from the Xzandians is brutal. The Xzandian General wields the Fragment of Midnight Eclipse to terrorize and control crowds, leaving the Reserve drenched in blood and the disappearence of many. The Deamone Reserve witnesses the suffering. Their choice will decide Gothalia’s — and many others’ — future.
